Air Chathams & Air New Zealand Interline announcement

Air Chathams was proud to announce a new partnership with Air New Zealand that’s all about making regional travel easier and more connected – starting in Whakatāne.

From December, our Whakatane customers will be able to book a single ticket for journeys that include both Air Chathams and Air New Zealand flights. That means smoother travel, checked bags transferred all the way to your final destination, and less hassle along the way.

Heading to Queenstown or coming home from Dunedin? No problem, your Whakatāne–Auckland leg can now be part of one connected journey. You will need to book travel through Air New Zealand’s website, where Air Chathams destinations (starting with Whakatāne) will be available to choose from. When you book this way, your bags will be checked in at your starting airport and travel all the way through to your final destination — and you’ll receive just one boarding pass for your entire journey.

This interline agreement is a big win for regional New Zealand, helping locals stay connected for business, education, health, and time with whānau – and it opens the door for more visitors to discover everything the Eastern Bay of Plenty region has to offer. We’re thrilled to work alongside Air New Zealand on this initiative and look forward to bringing even more travel options to our community in the future.
