How do I book an interline journey?
To book an interline journey, you must book on the Air New Zealand official website - https://www.airnewzealand.com/ or on the Air New Zealand app - https://www.airnewzealand.com/en-nz/my-trip/air-nz-app.
Will I receive boarding passes for my entire journey?
Yes, at the time of check in whether online/app or in person check in, you will receive a boarding pass for your entire journey.
Can I check in online for an interline booking?
Yes, you can check in online for an interline booking.
Where you check in depends on which airline operates the first flight in your journey:
- If your first flight is operated by Air Chathams—for example, Whakatāne–Auckland–Queenstown, you must check in for your entire journey through the Air Chathams website.
- If your first flight is operated by Air New Zealand—for example, Queenstown–Auckland–Whakatāne, you must check in for your entire journey through the Air New Zealand website or app.
Who should I contact if I need to change or cancel my interline booking?
As all interline bookings are made on the Air New Zealand platform, please reach out to the team at Air New Zealand for any changes or cancellations to your interline booking.
Which airline’s baggage allowance applies?
The baggage allowance depends on what fare type you have booked with each airline at the time of booking. Please review the baggae allowances for each airlines fare types below:

What happens if one of my flights on an interline booking is disrupted
If one of your flights is delayed or cancelled, the airline operating the affected flight will contact you directly, arrange an alternative journey, and cover any eligible costs resulting from the disruption.
How does seat selection work?
As all bookings are made on the Air New Zealand platform, you can select a seat for your Air New Zealand sector easily from the website or app at the time of booking or up to 24 hours before. For your Air Chathams sector, you are able to reach out to our team call centre or select your seat at the time of checkin and our check in counter.
Can my travel agent make an interline booking?
Can I check my baggage through to my final destination if I am on separate Air Chathams and Air New Zealand bookings?
Unfortunately not, If you are on two separate bookings for your Air Chathams and Air New Zealand flights, you will need to collect your baggage at the intermediate point and check in for your next flight with the relevant airline. The interline agreement applies to bookings made as a connecting journey.
