We love it when you take the time to let us know what you think. Use our contact form to let us know how we have been doing.
I just wanted to say a belated thank you to your team based in Whanganui and Auckland on the Monday 4.45pm flight.
Unfortunately there was a mechanical issue on take off, which meant that the plane could not fly and required maintenance. There was the smaller 18 seater available, however I think that there was approximately 36 of us, so it wasn't an option for the whole flight.
The team handled the situation well despite the delays, organising those with international/connecting flights, and young families to be on the flight first. The team then arranged for an additional plane to come with the first lot from Auckland so that we could get back up to Auckland quicker. They were happy for us to go home during this delay, and called everyone personally to let us know that an additional plane had been put on so we would be leaving Whanganui earlier than suggested.
They also provided pizza for those who waited at the airport.
Having experienced appalling service from other NZ airlines when things like this have happened in the past (to the point where I will no longer fly with Jetstar), I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding service of Air Chathams. It is fantastic that our local regional airlines can go the extra mile to support our smaller regions and ensure that we stay connected.
My parents live in Whanganui (and I am born and bred myself), so it is always such a great journey being able to fly Air Chathams - making frequent visits home possible.
Please pass on my thanks to the team!
We thoroughly enjoyed our scenic flight on Air Chatham's DC3 and enjoy the wonderful hospitality from you and our flight crew plus the delicious local foods and wine, plus the great music from yesteryears. Our Canadians were very impressed by it all, especially Rodger being a retired Air Canada pilot. We loved dressing up as "trolley dollies" - (as one of the comments on my Facebook page called us). We caused quite a few laughs at both Whakatane and Auckland airports.
We had a lovely weekend in Auckland - harbour cruise, to nautical museum, Sky tower, and lots of yummy foods and meals out.
Great flight home today with Air Chathams too - very smooth and on time. Thanks again for a lovely flight and great service.
Hello Air Chathams, Firstly a huge thanks for your help for being able to do these trips out of Manapouri for me. It is a “win-win” for everybody.
As a result of your handling of the flights including weather inconveniences it has resulted in accolades from everybody and not one single complaint. All my people were so grateful for that unscheduled extra day. A BIG THANKS.
Because of how you have handled the last two seasons out of Manapouri, I now want to continue the system we are in and pre book to do the same thing again next January (2017).Merv Halliday, Chatham Island Tours Tour Director
To whom it may concern,
I had heard all about the excitement the DC-3 had caused with the scenic flights offered during the launch of your service to Whakatane, so it was a wonderful surprise for me to find that I was going to enjoy the same experience. And what a bonus at check-in when I was advised that Air Chatham were providing an additional ½ hour scenic tour on the way to Auckland.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and now have added some photo’s and your information leaflet about the place to support my memory. I have told everyone who is prepared to listen all about it!!
This email also gives me an opportunity to congratulate Air Chatham for having the faith in the Bay of Plenty community to make the commitment to provide such a valuable service. My family are friends with Graham Bell who first started a small commuter service between Whakatane and Auckland way back in the 1960’s, and have been “frequent flyers” for both business and pleasure ever since.
I have lived in Australia since 1970, and make at least one trip “home” every year, and always commute by air. Due to my mother’s poor health I have made 3 trips so far this year, and will likely make another before the year is out. I am certainly grateful for your service, and hope that once the summer season with the DC-3 ends, you will continue to provide the mid-day weekend service. Without it, there is a lot of time to kill, or the cost of accommodation, waiting for the international connection.
I say in all sincerity that the service provided by Air Chatham is outstanding. You are by far the friendliest airline I have ever dealt with, and your commitment to your customers is second to none.
May the good times continue.
Kia ora Gray, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a pleasure, enjoyed the aircraft, the music of the time, the service, the refreshments and the journey. I’m so pleased I decided to take this trip. Nga mihi.
I would just like to thank Air Chathams for making my recent trip to Whakatane a very memorable and enjoyable visit. I absolutely loved and enjoyed both flights to and from Auckland to Whakatane and have been singing your praises since. Thank you once again for the experience.
Last week my grandfather passed away suddenly. My Uncle, cousin and brother and two little nieces were flying in from Perth to Auckland and then driving 3 hours to try and make the funeral. Due to Kawerau Councils by-laws my family were unable to wait for my family from Perth before they buried my grandfather. This grandfather brought my cousin and I up from infants until now and I did not want my cousin to miss the opportunity to farewell our beloved grandfather. Air Chathams flew my whole family down to Whakatane in a fraction of the time where we were able to spend his final time on earth as a whole whanau unit.
Thanks to Air Chathams and the work of a man called Gray/ Grey in the offices my Cousin and my family were able to spend an hour with my grandfather before we held the service.
Words can not express the gratitude and respect I have for Air Chathams in all that they have done for granting me this wish. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you all so much for helping my family come home. Forever grateful xoxoxox
